As an early Christmas present for hubby David Beckham, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has bought a pair of mini pot-bellied Gloucester Old Spot cross-breed pigs. The fact that pot-bellied pigs are not good with children apparently did not stop the fashion-forward Victoria from adding them to the family; let’s hope we do not see reports of any of her three cute kids being harmed by these territorial little creatures!

Victoria Caroline Adams was raised in Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire, in the U.K. where she attended school at St. Mary’s High School in Chestnut. An outcast because of her family’s wealth, Victoria soon decided she wanted to become famous after seeing the musical Fame. Her parents agreed to enroll her at the Jason Theatre School, which she attended until she transferred to Laine Theatre Arts College in Epson, Surrey, to study dance and modeling.

Victoria belonged to a band called Persuasion, but it was her role in the all-girl band called the Spice Girls that rocketed her to stardom. Dubbed “Posh Spice” by the media, she soon became known as a fashion icon more than as a singer. Once the band split up to pursue their own solo careers, Victoria released her debut album titled Victoria Beckham, but never quite reached the level of fame she enjoyed with the Spice Girls.

Victoria has written two autobiographies and shot five reality documentaries, including Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, but concentrates her efforts on her three cute kids with her soccer-star husband and the next fashion trend she’s sure to set.

Who was your favorite Spice Girl?

Looks like four-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood will give her fans more of what they love with her very own variety special! Carrie-lovers can tune in on December 7 on the very method they came to love her: television.

Before the fame, Carrie Underwood was raised in Checotah, Oklahoma, on her family’s farm. It wasn’t long before she was performing at talent shows and the local Baptist church. By 1996, she was signing a deal with Capitol Records, which unfortunately was canceled due to management changes at the label.

Carrie went on to focus on her studies and graduated from Checotah High School as their 2001 salutatorian. She then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and an emphasis in journalism. Although her studies were her main priority, she performed summers in her college’s Downtown Country shows, beauty pageants, and even won Miss NSU runner-up in 2004.

2004 was also the year that Carrie auditioned for American Idol, the vehicle that marked the beginning of her success. After winning the fourth season of the show, she went on to release albums Some Hearts and Carnival Ride.

Her third album will be released on Arista Nashville and is reported to be named Play On. No doubt that Carrie fans will be waiting for the November 3 release date!

Who is your favorite American Idol winner?

It looks like Rihanna has Katy Perry as a Fashion Week pal in Paris. The two were spotted hanging at the Karl Lagerfeld fashion show this week, looking chummy. Rihanna has shown an interest in acting by taking classes recently, but perhaps this Barbados-born singer will make the catwalk her next big success!

Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in Saint Michael, Barbados, attended Charles F. Broome Memorial School and Combermere School in Barbados. At 15 years old, she formed a musical trio with two of her classmates. Friends introduced the trio to record producer Evan Rogers, and Rihanna and her mother spent the next year traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Barbados.

Before relocating to the U.S. at age 16, Rihanna tried her hat as a teen model and won the Miss Combermere Beauty Pageant and was an army cadet with the military of Barbados. But, it was clear that music was where she belonged.

Under Rogers’ support, she auditioned for Jay-Z, who was head of Def Jam Recordings at the time. The audition landed her a contract and she’s worked with producers such as Carl Sturken, Stargate, J.R. Rotem, Ne-Yo, Timbaland, and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, and continues to enjoy her success.

If Taylor Swift was stock, you’d want to buy yourself some shares of this hot ticket country singer! This young, NOW star (no thanks to Kanye West, a-hem!) has seemingly launched her mega-career in a few short years, taking her from teen star to Video of the Year recipient at this year’s CMT Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, and the now-infamous Best Female Video VMA.

Taylor was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, where she proved she wasn’t just another cute kid. In the fourth grade, she won a national poetry contest which inspired her to write songs and singing at Karaoke contests and the like in her hometown.

She then joined Kirk Cremer’s SNL-inspired kid’s sketch comedy group TheatreKids Live!, proving her apparent comedic talent. Her involvement wound up being worth while when her talent scout came in the form of Cremer’s mother, who encouraged her to pursue a country music career rather than theatrical performing. Cremer wasted no time showcasing Taylor’s talent by renting a space at the local mall so Taylor could perform country songs backed by karaoke tracks.

This opportunity was enough to give Taylor the confidence to begin performing at open mike opportunities and karaoke nights, and eventually landed a show at the Bloomsburg Fair, thanks in part to a local performer Pat Garrett.

By 11 years of age, Taylor took a chance and distributed her karaoke song-filled demo tape to every record label on Nashville’s Music Row. But, it was a move that was not positively received (I bet those labels are kicking themselves right now!). Undeterred by the rejection, she accepted an invitation to sing the national anthem at the U.S. Open tennis tournament. It seemed to be the big break she needed.

At only age 12, Taylor began to make regular trips to Nashville to write songs with local writers. By the time she was 15, she rejected a development deal with RCA Records because she wanted to record her own songs. But, when she performed at Nashville’s The Bluebird Café, a talent scout named Scott Borchetta signed her to Big Machine Records. Since then, she launched her first single Tim McGraw at only age 16, broken many billboard and music records and received scores of acclaim. It’s obvious that it takes more than being a cute kid…it takes talent, determination, and guts, all of which Taylor Swift has in spades.

Do you think that fame makes kids, teens, and young adults grow up too fast? Or, should talent encouraged at any age?

Christina Aguilera, mother to one-and-a-half-year-old cute kid Max, is birthing a new venture: her very own radio station! The online channel will be featured on the “iheartradio” network, filled with interviews, Christina’s personal commentary, music, and more. Are more cute kids in the stars for Christina? Rumors have it that she and hubby Jordan Bratman are trying for a sibling for little Max. Time will tell!

Also known as “the little girl with the big voice,” Christina Aguilera was born in Staten Island, New York, and eventually moved to Rochester, Pensylvania when her parents divorced. As a child, Christina’s talent was apparent singing in talent shows and competitions, causing her to become the target of vandalism and exclusion by her peers due to jealousy. The family eventually moved to Waxford and kept her talent a secret. At that time, Christina attended Marshall Middle School and North Allegheny Intermediate High School until she was later home schooled.

The country was first introduced to Christina’s talents when she appeared on Star Search, leading to her role on The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Although the show was canceled after only a year, Christina recorded a song for the animated film Mulan, which landed her a contract with RCA Records.

Her debut album shot Christina to the top of the charts, but her lack of input into her music caused her to part ways with her management. It wasn’t until she released her album Stripped with BMG Records (produced by Scott Storch and singer-songwriter Linda Perry) that her sugary image was squashed by a raunchier side. In yet another image make-over, Christina released Back to Basics, giving her vocal ability center stage again.

Now as mommy Christina balances the limelight with motherhood and marriage,  we hold our breath to see what the next side of Christina will be!

Do you censor your children’s music options based on the artist’s image?

Mariah Carey’s latest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, is due in stores this month, but this isn’t the R&B superstar’s first taste of success; she has been in the musical spotlight since 1990. Find out how this cute kid turned musical diva.

Mariah was born and raised in Huntington, Long Island and turned to music to occupy herself as her single mother (and former opera singer and vocal coach) struggled to support her family after a divorce.

Mariah went on to graduate from Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York, but missed school often due to her job as a demo singer for local recording studios. Her job gave her the opportunity to work with musicians like Gavin Christopher and Ben Margulies, helping her co-write her material for her demo tape. She soon became a backup singer for Brenda Starr, a Puerto Rican freestyle singer.

By 1988, Starr gave Columbia Records exec Tommy Mottola Mariah’s demo tape at a party where Mariah met him, and he signed her to a recording contract. Reaching the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with her first album, there was no mistaking that Mariah’s Cinderella-like story was made for tinseltown.

Mariah begin taking acting lessons in 1997, appearing in such films as The Bachelor, Glitter, and State Property 2. Although her acting career has not given her much success or positive review, her musical talent will keep her in the spotlight for years.

Call it coincidence, or just sticking with what you know, speculation abounds that Miley’s 20-year-old boyfriend (underwear model Justin Gaston) is a younger version of her dear ol’ dad. But, that doesn’t stop this teen idol from making headlines with her music, television, and now big-screen movie career!

Born Destiny Hope Cyrus, this middle daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus quickly earned the nickname Smiley, shortened to Miley, thanks to her sunny disposition. By the time she was nine, she began taking acting classes at the Armstrong Acting Studio in Toronto, Canada. Though Billy Ray may have tried to keep her out of the spotlight, wanting her to enjoy just being a kid, Miley couldn’t resist and soon marked her career as an actress with a guest role on her father’s TV series Doc.

A few acting roles in movies and music videos later, her audition for Disney’s Hannah Montana truly marked her star in Hollywood at only 12 years old. Ironically, she was originally turned down for the series, but thanks to her persistence, was called back for further auditions, which eventually landed her the career-making role.

Miley naturally has marked herself as a singer as well, releasing a solo album (doubled with a part II of the Hannah Montana soundtrack) and recently made her way back to the big screen with her movie Hannah Montana: The Movie and Bolt.

Do you approve of this 16-year-old actress dating a 20-year-old guy?

Lindsay Lohan reports to US Weekly magazine that she’s not taking the break-up with her partner of two years well, as she continues to party away the pain… a long cry from her debut as the star of the movie-remake, Parent Trap!

At age three, Lindsay started her career as a model with Ford Models, appearing in more than 100 print ads before her next stop on television commercials. Her TV commercial success landed her a role in the soap opera Another World by age 10, which she gave up at age 12 to star as estranged twin sisters in the remake of Disney’s Parent Trap.

Lindsay did a few made-for-TV movies, along with a couple of sitcom appearances, but her rise to fame truly came with another Disney remake, Freaky Friday. Although followed by successful Hollywood films, Lindsay’s personal life began to taint her image in the media. She began to take independent film roles while fueling the fires of her negative media attention with two DUIs. Throughout all of this, she signed a record deal with Casablanca, and eventually switched to Motown Records by Universal Music Group.

We all hope for the best for Lindsay, but it’s hard not to wonder where her parental guidance was while she continued to make bad decisions for herself. Perhaps a victim of being her own worst enemy, yet Lindsay will surely stay in the limelight one way or another.

Before the shaved head, bad behavior, and drama, this Louisiana native was an accomplished gymnast, performed in dance revues, and sang in her church choir. At eight years old, Britney joined NY City’s Professional Performing Arts School.

Shortly after, she auditioned for The New Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney channel. Although a little young for the series, the audition landed her an agent and several appearances in a number of off-Broadway productions. By age 11, Britney was seeing stars as a contestant of the television show Star Search, and earned her spot on The New Mickey Mouse Club with fellow co-stars Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

Poor Jessica Simpson just can’t catch a break in the media these days, but it wasn’t always that way. Born in Texas on July 10, 1980, it was during her childhood as a daughter of a youth minister that managed to get her vocal chords noticed. After the independent label she was under went bankrupt, Jessica produced her own independent album in the Christian music circuit, which managed to make its way to the desk of a Columbia Music rep’s desk.

While on tour with boy band 98 Degrees, Jessica found love with Nick Lachey, the two eventually married, and shared their wedding bliss (while it lasted) with the viewing public on their reality television show The Newlyweds. From there, opportunities in television, movies, and music poured in.
