Written by Michelle Bruns Maffei on July 2, 2009 – 1:19 pm -
Farrah Fawcett was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1965. She then attended the University of Texas, where she appeared in a photo of the “Ten Most Beautiful Coeds” as a sister of Delta Delta Delta. The photo ran in Cashbox Magazine, gaining notice from a Hollywood publicist who urged her to move to Los Angeles to give modeling a try.
Her move proved fruitful as she landed several TV commercials, leading to roles on TV shows such as I Dream of Jeanie and The Six Million Dollar Man. Her good looks apparent, a company approached Farrah’s agent about doing a photo shoot for her most famous poster, shot by Bruce McBroom. Sales estimates of this now-famous poster reach about 12 million copies.
Known at that point as both a pretty face and an actress, Farrah appeared on many TV shows, but her most memorable role was
as Jill Munroe in Charlie’s Angels. Leaving the show after just one season, her next acclaim came with her role in the 1983 off-Broadway stage production Extremities. The movie version of Extremities earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
Farrah took several TV movie roles earning her nominations and respect as an actress who refused to reveal it all… until she shocked the world by posing in Playboy magazine!
Despite her choice to appear on the pages of Playboy, Farrah’s career seemed to steadily run its course until she lost her battle with cancer in June 2009. From model to actress to stage performer, this teen model had a face that won’t soon be forgotten.

Natasha Richardson’s Life Cut Too Short by Skiing Accident
Written by Michelle Bruns Maffei on March 23, 2009 – 11:13 pm -English actress Natasha (Redgrave) Richardson was born in 1963 into what was considered a “theatrical and film acting dynasty.” With an actress mother and a producer father, her film debut was at age four in The Charge of the Light Brigade, directed by her father.
It wasn’t until 1984 when she became active in acting, taking roles in television, film, and theatre in both England and the United States. During her career, she was awarded the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actress (1990 & 2005) and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival award for Best Actress (1994).
Perhaps acting was just in her blood, but there is no doubt that this star of movies such as The Comfort of Strangers, Nell, and The Parent Trap had her life cut too short. She is survived by her husband Liam Neeson and their two sons.
