Our CuteKid Model Search winner at Grapevine Mills in Texas has already been booked for modeling jobs THREE TIMES!!

Here is Jaden, 3 YEARS OLD in a Royal Drama outfit at the fashion show we also hosted the same weekend as the model search in Texas:

She has been booked for JC Penney more than once and if that isn’t enough, the designer of the dress she is wearing (above) has contacted her for other potential opportunities with the brand.

We’re so proud of Jaden, and her rapidly rising stardom!

TheCuteKid.com and The Campbell Agency (www.thecampbellagency.com) are proud to announce that 3-year-old Jaden Washington of Forney, TX is their Texas CuteKid Child Model Search grand prize winner and the recipient of a one year modeling contract with Campbell plus $500.

TheCuteKid.com and The Campbell Agency conducted the search August 21-22, 2009 at The Grapevine Mills Mall in Grapevine, TX. Children 6 months – 12 years were eligible and there were over 400 entrants. A CuteKid fashion show was held on the following day at the mall.

Chrissy Washington, Jaden’s mother said, “I’m so proud of Jaden! This is the first contest she’s ever been in, so her winning was a major bonus. When I told her, she was very excited. I’m not sure she fully understands, but there was excitement in her voice as she said, ‘I’m a CuteKid!’”

There were 10 finalists selected who won entries into The CuteKid monthly contest for a chance to win $25,000. In addition to Jaden, The Campbell Agency will be offering some of these 10 finalists modeling contracts as well.

“There was so much fresh, new talent at the search we couldn’t possibly sign just one!” said Nancy Campbell, owner of The Campbell Agency.

“We’re looking forward to working with our grand prize winner, Jaden, and the other children in the years to come,” said Diana Dyer, head of Children’s print.

A lovely reporter (Abby Ellin) came to my house to interview me and my 4-year old twins a few weeks ago about getting into the modeling/acting industry!

It’s not an easy business, that’s for sure – it seems so glamorous, the fame, fortune, etc. but when it comes down to day-to-day appointments and auditions it’s a LOT of preparation and running around.

Let me know if you’re schlepping your child or children to castings more than 1/2 hour away – I personally run my twins into the city all the time which is almost an hour away from my house!  A little crazy if you think about it, but exciting at the same time because of the possibilities….

2 CuteKids were booked on the CBS Early Show this past weekend!!

After hours and hours of preparation for the segment, showing up at the studio at 5:30 in the morning and booking TWO babies for the show (in case one cried) we STILL did not make it onto the show because of a baby breakdown…well, that’s showbiz, folks!

Why am I telling you this?

Because I am trying to give you some insight into the business…many of you know that we were booked on The Early Show several times and when it did finally happen this weekend, the baby booked wasn’t ready when put in front of the camera.

This is VERY common when dealing with children and TV, print work, etc.  I personally experienced one of my 4-year olds breaking down in front of a potential acting manager, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.  This was after driving into the city from my home that is one hour away, taking off of work and waiting in line to see the manager.

As parents we need to be patient and just roll with the punches when things like this happen, and I have to say – the two sets of parents that were involved in the show this weekend were SO amazing!!  They were just happy for the chance to possibly be on national TV, and to wander around backstage of a major network TV set.

So, a BIG thank-you to those families involved, and I would love to hear stories of what other parents are going through!!  Let’s support each other – it ain’t easy.

Being involved in this industry takes a LOT of time and patience, and when your child gets representation it takes a lot of running around to castings, callbacks, etc.
