Happy Birthday, Bronx!

I must start this blog with a disclaimer: To my loyal readers, you know the deal. To everyone new, I’m not a mom, but I am an entertainment reporter in NYC with insight and parenting prowess nonetheless (thanks to parenting articles I frequently write as I tap into experts for input.)
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and hubby Pete Wentz celebrated their son’s one-year birthday to share the news with the world. In fact, their fam tweeted about it with various posts on Twitter like big sis Jessica’s tweet, “Happy Birthday to my precious angel on earth!!!”
I can’t imagine being a parent to celebrate your child’s first birthday on this planet! Seriously. Taking it up a few notches, can you imagine issuing a press release when your child is born, having to answer to questions about the name (Bronx Mowgli, for real?), and then answering questions on motherhood? The good thing is being able to have such a public forum to celebrate your child’s milestones no matter how big or small. After all, celebs are under the microscope and instantly, whether they like it or not, their kids are, too.
Ashlee recently dished about motherhood and said it “is the most fantastic experience I have ever been through.” Her son makes her “laugh and smile everyday.” The day before her son’s first birthday, the 25-year-old former Melrose Place star (her character was recently given the ax by producers), tweeted, “BX’s 1st bday tomorrow! My angel is going to be a year!! The greatest year of my life.”
Pete also tweeted, “Happy birthday bx. you dont have twitter and cant read this. Thanks to all my friends that recorded lullabies. cant believe its been a year.”
Sure, you may not have a public forum and even if you have a Twitter account, chances are you don’t have followers in the thousands.
Nevertheless, how did you celebrate your child’s first birthday? Do tell!
