As Jon and Kate Plus 8 bid adieu last week, one couldn’t help but wonder: Where does this leave the reality television family? Where do they go from here?

I’m super-sick of hearing about Jon and Kate Gosselin’s divorce battles in the news. They’re definitely not the most exciting or exhilarating celebs to follow, that’s for sure.  It seemed bittersweet though to hear about their show’s finale on Monday night. Granted, full disclosure: I did not watch it. I rarely watched it for that matter, but became intrigued by their back story, how they met, their family size, the works. Actually, one may argue they pimped out their kids in the name of earning a lot of money to therefore house, feed, and clothe them. Can’t blame them for that, can we?

So now that the show no longer exists, I secretly hope Kate gets a spin-off or something. Considering they’re in the news so much, it would be a shame to not know how the kids are handling the divorce, how they are growing up and, in general, how Kate is managing it all as a single mom.

As much as television tends to gloss over realities of challenges working women encounter, Kate is left picking up the pieces and perhaps wondering where they go from here. One can only hope she can gain strength from her kids as they forge ahead and figure out a way to generate a super-sized income for her family size to match.
