Written by Mary Fetzer on November 17, 2009 – 8:44 am -Kids love to be outdoors in the cold weather, but we parents often worry about exposing them to the harsh, windy elements.
Take a cue from celebrity moms and dads, and stuff your little one into a puffer coat. The extra insulation in these Michelin-Man-style jackets offers warmth without weight.

Liev Schreiber’s son, Sasha, (left) is comfy in babyGap’s Warmest Jacket in True Navy ($50). And Kingston Rossdale, Moses Martin, Ryder Russell, and James Broderick have all been spotted in the Appaman Puffy Coat ($90).
But kids grow fast, and they’ll wear these jackets for just one season. Here are some affordable — but equally cozy — puffer coats for your little ones:

Colorful Baby Clothes, Katy Perry-Style
Written by Mary Fetzer on July 2, 2009 – 10:28 am -
When it comes to fashion, pop singer Katy Perry said she wants to “look like a party.” She consistently shocks critics and paparazzi alike with her wild ensembles, but there is one thing Katy Perry — her unabashed use of color. Bright, bold colors are all the rage this season, especially for teeny tiny babes.
From lime green to tangerine, The Children’s Place is a fabulous source for colorful baby clothes and accessories. You can find tops, bottoms, socks, and shoes in a rainbow’s array of hues — for newborn girls and boys alike.
White is so last year. The Children’s Place offers wonderful alternatives with onesies, rompers, blankets, hats, bibs, and socks in adorable solid and patterned pastels. You’ll find dresses, tops, pants, shorts, and shoes to mix and match. Check out these adorable items:

Your baby can wear these items as a set or with other complementary items from The Children’s Place. The Children’s Place runs great sales, and you can buy all four of these pieces for under $40! Sizes range from 0-3 months to 12 months.

It’ll be hard to miss your bright little fellow in this funky outfit. This awesome ensemble consists of a tropical shortall over a striped stringbean onesie. A fishbucket hat and treker sandals complete the look — all for under $35!
Check out The Children’s Place for biggersizes, too. Your older kids will look like they just stepped off the runway…
My mother-in-law isn’t a big fan of colorful baby clothes. She thinks every newborn (boy or girl) should be dressed in white from head to toe. I, on the other hand, think babies are perfect models for bright, fun clothes. What do you think?

Get Vanessa Hudgens’ Bohemian Look
Written by Mary Fetzer on May 13, 2009 – 11:46 pm -
The bohemian look is a popular trend this season, and teens and celebrities everywhere are flaunting this hippie-chick style. Vanessa Hudgens is a role model for edgy bohemian fashion — peasant blouses, loose-fitting skirts, and layered jewelry.
Now, even the littlest of girls can flaunt this fab look! Old Navy has everything they need to get started: flowery prints, tie-back waists, and ruffles in bright, feminine colors.
TOPS
Forget about plain, boring T-shirts. Funky bohemian styling starts at the top with flirty tanks and lettuce-edge tunics.
For big girls, Old Navy has smocked tees, empire tanks, and flutter tops featuring floral prints, crocheted trim, and embroidered detailing. You’ll find dozens of styles in pretty spring colors, all under $20!
Baby girls can be just as hip in their boho duds. Old Navy has ruffle-trim henleys and banded-waist tanks in darling prints and patterns. Look for cute, simple details – if the top is too fussy, she’ll be fussy, too! Old Navy’s selection is enormous with prices ranging from $5 to $15.
BOTTOMS
Pair the pretty tops with equally feminine bottoms, like cropped pants or flirty skorts.
The big girls can get Miss Hudgens’ look with pleated patterned skirts or belted Bermudas. Whether she likes to show a little leg or a lot, Old Navy has the perfect bottoms. From short-shorts and mini-skirts to capris and jeans, your gal will find the look she wants.
Hide your baby girl’s diaper with adorable bohemian bottoms. Show off her chubby legs with a pair of ruffled “panties,” plaid bubble shorts, or a white denim mini. You can afford a nice variety at Old Navy, where the price is about $8 to $12 each.
DRESSES
There’s nothing quite as sweet as a young girl in a pretty summer dress.
Your girl will feel all grown up in a flowing maxi dress or a halter sundress. They’re perfect for church, parties, parades… and they’re great as swimsuit cover-ups, too! Every one of Old Navy’s dresses is under $20. It will be hard to choose!
Your baby will look adorable (and will be a breeze to change!) in a smocked sundress. Make it boho by selecting funky patterns or cool beading. Old Navy has dresses in comfy cotton, soft jersey, and fluffy terry, some as low as $5!
SANDALS
Complete the look with a pair of fun sandals or flip flops.
Choose a pair of flip-flop wedges or strappy sandals for your big girl. They’re comfortable and practical, casual and dressy. Old Navy’s patent thong sandals are $12.50 per pair.
Whether she’s walking or not, you baby girls can flaunt her precious piggies in a pair of braided sandals. Select sparkly metallic or cool canvas – only $14.50.
ACCESSORIES
The bohemian look covers everything, including accessories.
Bigger girls can layer bracelets and necklaces or strut their style with a rope-strap beach bag. The bags are just $9.50 and come in trendy colors like Cayman Pink, Kayak Blue, and Fudge Brownie.
Babies may be too young for jewelry or purses, but they can still accessorize! Protect her delicate skin and eyes with a floppy sun hat or a pair of tinted sunglasses. Old Navy has a great selection, and everything is priced under $10.
